Siargao Travel Guide
How to Explore Siargao
A practical local guide to airport transfers, motorbikes, tuk-tuks, private transport, and organized tours around the island.

Siargao looks small on a map, but popular destinations are spread across the island. The best way to get around depends on your group size, budget, driving confidence, and how far you want to travel.
The quick answer
- From the airport: Book a shared or private van before arrival.
- For confident solo travelers or couples: A motorbike offers the most flexibility.
- For families and groups: A tuk-tuk or private vehicle is usually more comfortable.
- For full-day sightseeing: An organized tour removes the work of planning routes, entrance fees, and timing.
Getting from Siargao Airport
Siargao Airport is in Del Carmen, while most visitors stay around General Luna. Arrange your transfer before your flight so a driver can meet you on arrival.
Shared van
₱400 per person
A budget-friendly option. The van may collect or drop off other travelers before reaching your accommodation.
Private van
₱2,500 per transfer
A direct airport-to-hotel or hotel-to-airport transfer for your group, without additional guest drop-offs.
Renting a motorbike
A motorbike gives you freedom to stop at cafés, beaches, coconut roads, and viewpoints. It works best for travelers who already ride confidently and hold the appropriate valid driving licence.

- Always wear a properly fitted helmet.
- Check the brakes, lights, tires, mirrors, and fuel before leaving.
- Slow down for sand, loose gravel, potholes, animals, and sudden rain.
- Avoid riding at night or in heavy rain if you are unfamiliar with the roads.
- Do not rent a motorbike simply to learn on busy island roads.
Tuk-tuks and private transportation
A tuk-tuk or private vehicle is a better choice when you are traveling with children, carrying bags, visiting several distant stops, or prefer not to drive. A local driver also helps with routes and timing, especially for North Siargao and inland attractions.
Prices depend on the route, vehicle, duration, and group size. Ask for the total price and included stops before confirming.
Organized tours and pickup
For full-day island trips, organized tours are often the easiest option. Your transport, guide, itinerary, and required tour arrangements are coordinated together.
- Standard tour pickup is usually between 7:30 and 8:30 AM.
- Sohoton departures normally require an earlier pickup around 6:00 to 6:30 AM.
- Free pickup is available within General Luna proper for applicable tours.
- Guests staying outside General Luna may be asked to meet at General Luna Boulevard, depending on the activity.
Which option should you choose?
| Your situation | Good option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo traveler or couple | Motorbike | Flexible and convenient if you already ride confidently. |
| Family or small group | Tuk-tuk or private vehicle | More comfortable and easier with bags or children. |
| Airport arrival | Shared or private van | Pre-arranged pickup removes uncertainty after your flight. |
| Full-day sightseeing | Organized tour | Route, timing, guide, and logistics are handled for you. |
| Custom itinerary | Private transport or package | Built around your dates, accommodation, and preferred activities. |
A few local road-safety reminders
Drive on the right, follow local traffic rules, and never ride after drinking. Roads outside General Luna can be poorly lit, and weather can change quickly. If you are tired, uncertain, or unfamiliar with motorbikes, hire a driver instead.
